Honey Remedy Against Mouth Infections

Eating honey to combat sore throat and mouth infections: an ancient remedy the grandmother whose effectiveness is now confirmed by science. In fact, according to a recent research conducted by Professor Roberto Barale University of Pisa some special varieties of honey, in particular those chestnut, eucalyptus and honeydew fir, have been shown to possess a powerful antimicrobial activity and bactericidal.

The full results of the trial will be presented to preview the national "Week of Honey 'di Montalcino (12-14 September), one of the most important sector apistico. The research was created to verify whether the habit, widespread use of honey in the case of oral diseases had a real scientific validity: Roberto Barale, professor of genetics at the University of Pisa, has thus launched for myself, along with microbiologists of the same University, a series of experiments to test the effectiveness of different types of honey in combating pathogenic bacteria.

In particular occurred bactericidal activity against various bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, one of the major pathogens, responsible for numerous ailments. The in vitro experiments have shown that only some particular types of honey can kill the bacterium in particular the most effective were the chestnut honey, eucalyptus and honeydew spruce. Preliminary analysis showed a powerful bactericidal activity of honey also against other important microorganisms responsible for other diseases.
