Asus AiGuru SV1, video calls via Skype

The range of Asus AiGuru was created by the manufacturer in combination with Skype, offering phones that allow us to make calls through this service VoIP. So far, we have seen models like S2, which also calls SideShow available for use on computers with Vista.

The last appearance of this family is the Asus AiGuru SV1, which adds a new feature on the phone, conducting video calls via Skype. In return, his party loses more portable, as it is a big and that is not intended to be carried anywhere.

It is rather a complement to fixed telephone, a bit in the style of those films that futurists predict that within a few years have videoteléfonos with those who see him face to our interlocutor. As the AiGuru SV1 brings that future, which I am not convinced that is what they really want. Without trying to make a video call early in the morning, newly erected.

Its LCD screen is 7 inches and offers a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. The camera has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and integrates the microphone and a loudspeaker, although we may use our own through which includes connectors. It connects to the network via Ethernet connector or via Wi-Fi, being compatible with 802.11g.

For if we really need to take it from side to side (which he does not seem advisable too) has a battery that offers 20 minutes of autonomy. It is on sale from October and will be priced at about $ 300.

Is Expensive and unnecessary? You can, taking into account that an ultraportable could perform the same functions but have the future available right now is what we have.
